— researcher, maker, climate impact consultant

Carly Breame is a material researcher, ceramist, and climate consultant working at the intersection of science, design, and technology. Based between Yorkshire and London, her practice focuses on transforming local and industrial waste into non-toxic ceramic glazes and regenerative material solutions.

With an MA in Material Futures and a background in climate impact consultancy, Carly applies a research-led, systems-thinking approach to developing low-impact ceramics and advising organisations on circular design. Her collaborations span the food, textiles and agricultural sectors — co-creating glazes and tableware from dried wine grapes, coffee husks, and seashells.

Carly also runs community-based workshops that make ceramics accessible to a wider audience, using hands-on creativity as a tool for wellbeing and connection. Her practice aims to reduce environmental impact while building stronger links between materials, makers, and supply systems.

VALUES AND ETHOS
“To overcome the current climate crisis, we should ‘produce what we consume and consume what we produce.”
