coffee husk, 2024
This coffee collection is handmade in West Yorkshire using locally sourced coffee husks, generously provided by Dark Woods Coffee—a B Corp roastery nestled on the edge of Marsden village in the West Yorkshire Pennines.
Coffee husks, also known as chaff, are a by-product of coffee bean roasting. These husks have been thoughtfully repurposed into an ash glaze that coats the ceramics, offering protection, ensuring food safety, and adding unique colour and shine.

This innovative glaze has been applied to a collection of coffee products, including coffee cups and V60 filters, blending function with sustainability. By transforming waste into a valuable resource, this collection embodies a circular approach to reducing waste and preserving natural resources.
This collection reflects ongoing research into sustainable ceramics, forming part of a mission to create non-toxic, low-impact glazes from repurposed materials. Collaborating with local businesses, we aim to build transparent supply chains and contribute to a more sustainable future.
